The rear overhang on our trucks is probably the weakest link in body design on our trucks. Since I haven't had the hard top on my truck since I bought it back, I don't even know if my rear window works anymore from the banging around its taken, but I don't hear glass rattling in there so that's a good sign.

Yup..keep the pics coming.

If it wasn't for the fiberglass top and rear body mount, I would have bobbed the back already... But it isn't terrible, thats what the rear bumper is for right?

High steer will be nice too, my drag link took some abuse on the rocks this weekend

I'm really diggin' on that rear bumper, and was wondering if you would be willing to post up some dimensions? If not, I understand! Thanks,

Sam

The black fender flares you took off... Did you mutilate them in the process? Do you still have them? PM me, please.

Take care,
Alex

Man, u guys are killing me. I'm wishing my street 4Runner was all gold rather than gold\cream.

I can't tell you all how much I like seeing those pics of your gold 'runners... very sweet!!!!

As a small side update, mine is in storage.. under a tarp. I really really need to do something with it. I do start and drive it occasionally. Still at 100K miles.

Here are some numbers from Solidworks, I did make some changes as I went. And the side bars were drawn a little long so I could trim them to fit.

I sold the flares on craigslist awhile ago, I can't recommend them my self... They caused a log of rust on this truck.

Righteous, I appreciate it. I have no welding skills myself, however I may contact somebody to fabricate something similar for my '85 pickup. Your bumper is one of the cleanest I've seen. Once again, solid!

Definately man, i dropped my rear end on the rocks a few months ago and pushed my steel bumper right into my tailgate. Now its got a hole from the last owner and several big dents from both of us, but the window still works! I was schocked...

I forgot to mention, the gas tank... That bugs me more then the rear over hang does. I think it might be a little smaller now after dropping it on a very large rock I was crawling over. Going to fill it up in a little bit, we will see how much it takes

There was a thread on Pirate asking about making the electrical doors easier to disconnect. So I posted up these pictures of the plugs I ended up using. They are 8 pin power extensions from a PC store. The drivers side had one more wire, so I had to use one spade connection for it.

Didn't I tell you? its waiting for you at your local steel yard Some assembly is still required....

Went wheeling again this weekend, went up for a 1 day trip with a buddy. Got a few pictures of my truck, she really doesn't flex much with the current springs.

Quick little update, no pics to go with it though. I painted the front fenders to match the rear quarter panels, masking some of the rust up front. Then recently decided I am going to strip all the graphics off the truck, and redo them in black vinyl. So next summer I will be repainting the entire truck, top to bottom. So in the mean time I picked up some new front fenders and installed them the other day, they fit perfectly! I need to pull them back off and spray them gold to match the truck. Hopefully this weekend I will have the time to draw up the factory graphics, so I can cut some new ones soon.

I also ordered up some 1.5" wheel spacers from Ebay for $120 shipped. I'll be selling 2 of them once I get a IFS rear axle swapped in, but I needed more clearance for 35's which I will be ordering some time next month. I got the spacers last weekend, opened the box and found a huge All-Pro offroad sticker on top Turns out All-Pro drop ships them for the guy I bought them from on Ebay. Sure beats paying $70-80 a pair.

That's the next step with mine (IFS rear and either spacers up front or converting to IFS brakes/hub$$).
On the graphics, the guy I bought my truck back from mentioned that he made the graphics for his other truck. They are the 84-84 4runner stripes. I'll contact him and see if I can get the file from him. He's local to you, or at least he was in Minneapolis.

Finally fixed the oil leak this weekend. Pulled the oil pump and replaced the front seal and O-ring on Saturday. After driving it around a bit, I found it was still leaking from the relief valve area. I pulled the pump again this morning and found the top nut on the relief valve was loose. I put a light coat of sealant on both sides of the plastic washer and put it back together. No more oil leak!

It has leaked oil since I got the truck back in May. I was going to fix it a few months ago, but wussed out on using the starter bump trick to remove the crank pully bolt. Finally I stepped up and gave it a go, it went very smooth Now I just need to clean up the years of grim all over the underside of the 4runner. I am guessing it has leaked ever since it came to this state. The passenger side frame rail up front is rust free and smooth gloss black still.

Also picked up a IFS steering box and some lightly used 3inch All Pro front leaf springs on Saturday, starting to get parts lined up
