Help! No Electrical...
Was just trying to start my '84. It turned over, but didn't fire right away. Not unusual for my carbed engine that hasn't been run for several days.
Went to turn the key again, and...nothing. No electrical power to anything. No starter, lights, radio...nothing. Completely dead.
Might I have blown a major fuse or something? Don't know the first thing about trouble shooting electrical systems. Just glad I wasn't somewhere remote! Yikes.

Clean you batterry connections, also check were the wire hooks to the end that goes on the battery. They get green and dirty in there some times.
I ended up cutting off the ends that hook to the battery, peeling up the insulation on the wire, cleaning the wire good. Then hooked it up to the connector, then put the connector back on the battery.
Could be a fuse, but I would just start with pulling the connectors off the battery and making sure the insides are clean and the post on the battery are clean. Hook it up and fire it up...hoping.

Rock On...
8422R4Runner had it right...
Even though the battery connections looked perfect at a glance, the ground was actually a little bit loose. I cleaned up everything with one of those special bristle tools for battery terminals, and carefully snugged up the connections. Now, it has a good, strong current turning the starter. Fired right up.
Looks like the problem was solved for about $2.50.
Sweet! Thanks
