I am starting to get into Ham Radio and was wanting to put one in my 1985 Toyota. I was just wanting to get some ideas as to where everyone is mounting theres.

 

I have 2 radios in my rigs. One in my Cummins first gen that I mounted to the floorboard with a Ram Mount. I also have a radio in my 91 4x4 22re. The radio is an older ICOM 207H. It has the face that separates. I mounted the body up under the glove box and the face I mounted just to the right of the heater and air controls. I fabbed my own mount for the face plate. Ram mounts has a lot of great mounting ideas for Ham

 

Is there anyway you can share a photo of those mount styles. I'd appreciate it.

I've got a relatively small one mounted to the bottom of my ashtray. The antenna is a small one that I actually mounted inside the A-pillar. It's surely not the best place for signal but it does work pretty good and it's better than loosing them in trees like the first two.

 

Can you post a picture of the radio and mount?

 

I've got a small one mounted to the roof in my 86 about where the mirror goes. But I had to remove my sun visor. I like it being up high, closer to your head so you can hear it
