engine swap for efficiency and added power

Any suggestions. I would think I fuel injected system would be the best way to go. What are some good options here?

soccor: i suggest putting your vehicle in your sig, you've got a few posts out there that are nebulous without that info.

for your 85 carb truck, the most (dollar) efficient solution for more power is probably to get a good carb go stage 1 on your head - LC engineering. of course if you have unlimited dollars, and you meant fuel efficiency, then a diesel swap is a great option. there are a few solutions in between, but every swap will rack up at least $4-8k. you might get a 22re in for around $3k, but at that point you just buy it in another truck and sell your 85.

i personally want to swap in a 3RZ from a tacoma, or the ultimate 1KZ-TE diesel, but my 22re is still a newer reman and it will get me a long ways down the road.

It will be in an 84-85 4runner. I've read a lot about people small blocks in for a decent price. I'm not sure what kind of efficiency it would get (prob. not too good compared to the 22r).

I'm looking for something that will have a good amount of power to drive around on freeways and through passes on the freeway (hills) without having to have the pedal to the floor or nearly to keep up w/traffic. I also want it to be a very capable off road vehicle too. Just an all around truck that doesn't have a lack of power and gets decent mileage. 20-25 if possible w/this setup.

i'm just seeing what's out there and trying to find the best option for the price

has any put an ls1 into a yota? These things are light/efficient/powerful. Maybe a little more expensive of a choice, but certainly will get the job done.

I'm thinkin the best choice would be an aluminum v6. Not sure if it's out there or what the options are, but if anyone knows, post up.

I did a little research and it looks like chevy makes a alum. v6/90deg that may do the job. Also buick has an alum v6. At least it appeared that way when i searched google.

w/the ls1, you would get about 20 mpg on freeway, and about 17 or so in town and maybe 14 on the trails. This is my estimation and what i've read online.
