Electric fan questions
My fan clutch is shot on my 84 4WD x-tra cab pickup and for what they want for a new one, I can get an electric fan from a good aftermarket maker and or one from a Ford Taurus on ebay...For all you guys running electric fans let me know...
1. What brand and/or factory car electric fan your running and the dimentions?
2. Is it a push or pull from behind the radiator?
3. What brand of after market temp control. Adjustable and/or fixed temp one?
4. How is either one is mounted? probe or inline, like from Summit?
5. What is the temp settings for fan on/off to set an adjustable one?
6. What temp settings for fan on/off for a fixed temp sensor?
7. At what high temp does permanet damage accure?
If it's not too much trouble, can you include some pics of mounted fan, mounted temp sensor (adjustable with probe and/or inline) Anything I missed please let me know...Thanks

!!!1) Ford Taurus Electric Fan, 2-speed model from 3.8l V-6
2) Pull, in place of the factory shroud
3) Variable controller from Delta Current Controls. The best one you can get, and WAY worth it. Also have the "linear indicator" for it.
4) Fin Probe came with the controller, wedged in the radiator near the engine return. Seems to work fine. the contoller itself is screwed down in the engine compartment, wherever you want.
5) Hmm, I think I have mine set for 14 degrees below default of 190, so 176-ish. I'll have to check though. It keeps the needle right in the middle of the gauge. This is the temperature of the water being returned to the engine though, not the actual engine temperature.
6) N/A
7) For the engine? When you start seeing steam... I dunno. My guess is around 250 deg. F
