Does an 84 22r have a knock sensor

Tried searching but couldn't find a direct answer, does an 84 22r carbed truck have a knock senor. The reason I'm asking is because I dicovered yeasterday that mine had one, its not plugged in or anything but it is there and I thought only 22 re's had them. The P.O. put another motor in it before I bought it, said it came out of a 85 4runner just wondering if it was a 22re block .

My 84 22R doesnt have one, but an 85 (EFI) engine/block would.

Any idea of the shape of your exhaust ports? Pear shaped are the '85-'95, while round is the early 22r head.

A carbureted 22R does not have a knock sensor. The timing is mechanical. If your engine has a carburetor and there is a wire going to the knock sensor, then it does not belong there and you should figure out what the wire is suppose to go to.
