Slow and steady wins the race. Nice to see a Runner come back to nice!
I used a Tuffy box made for a Samurai that works great, has locking storage, it also leaves room for the crawler shifter. Room for a CUPHOLDER!! between that and the shifter. Of course the shift hump trim goes away, but for many reasons I had to change that too anyway... just used flat sheet steel trimmed on the edge with trim strip from a local auto interior shop, painted in Hammerite 'black' (more like gunmetal).
EDIT: (It just occurred to me that for a normal drivetrain setup, there might not be room for a cupholder after all... )

I think that is a beautiful truck, nice work on it. I just acquired an 85 runner and want to do some work to it, but i don't even know where to start. The interior is wrecked, so that is were I think I am going to begin my fix-up process. I want to keep it semi-stock, but extend its off-road capabilities. Any info or insight would be a BIG help...from anyone.

A mild spring lift (OME springs? , high steer/IFS steering box, and a regear would net you a nice mild offroader. Throw in a rear locker and you'd have a very capable rig.

Thanks. When you say "regear", what tranny should i look for that is going to give a really good balance of off-road and long travel. I am looking to turn her into something I can drive a couple hours (or maybe days) to get to a trail and then have some fun.
Thanks for the help....
...I am REALLY looking forward to seeing how 85turborunners rig finishes up!

I think he means regear your axles. Like 4.88's or 5.29's depending on your tire size? Or maybe regear your t-case to 4.7?
Btw, I love the olive green and flat brown. I may do something similar to this when I paint my truck
