Detoit Locker.

I recently bought a parts truck that had a 5.29 rear diff with a chipped pinion gear and a detroit locker inside. i bought new yukon gears and had them installed with the used locker. my question is can lockers have back lash? i can almost get a quarter turn on my driveline. i am pretty confident in the guy that setup my gears i dont think there is anything wrong there.

You should have a little movement but not that much....

Test it. If it works it works. Old detriots are noisy but bulletproof, new detriots are quieter but just as strong. They both need some sort of turning to disengage. Detriots are engaged until they need to disengage. Sorry for the edit

the extra slop in the driveline is normal with almost any locker, nothing to worry about.
