Cylinder 3 is leaking???

I was told by a shop that my "cylinder 3 has a leak". Now... Im guessing that means a gasket is bad... However, i don't know much from there. What are they talking about and what does the repair entail? Thanks again guys... And gals?

Not really enough info.

Might mean a burned valve, might be a blown head gasket????? Might be tight valve adjustment??

Most probable scenarios involve removal of the head, minimum.

Run a hydrocarbon test before you pull the head. If negative its probably a bent or stuck valve like mentioned above. If positive its probably a head gasket or cracked block or head. All involve pulling the head. But before you pull anything make sure and verify that the new guy did screw up the diagnostic. Also it is helpful to try and narrow down the source before pulling it apart so you know what to look for

Give us pics of your plugs including number 3. Run a compression test as well, you can usually rent on from the parts store.

What are the symptoms that you toon your rig to the shop for? Has the rig ever overheated?

You could ask the mechanic, that you paid, to elaborate on what they found and for details on what they want to do to it..

^^ This is what I would do.

Find out how they determined that cylinder #3 was leaking and what does that mean, because that could mean many things. Repair costs also very depending on what is going on.

It is hard to tell if something is leaking out (compression) or if something is leaking in, given the description.
