Cromoly front upgrade

Just bought Cromoly axles and birfields for the rig. Also upgraded inner seals as old ones were shot.
Cleaned up knuckles from stock birfield damage. Set new seals. Install long side axle and birfield.
During attempt to install short side I noticed the axle angle was such that the seal was getting beat to hell on the top. By the time I realized and pulled it out the seal was shot.
Wondering if I did something wrong or if I might have bent the housing or knuckle.
Fyi, stock birfield broke on long side.
Thanks

the seal probably got trashed during install... if the axle housing is bent things won't be centered... did the axle come out easily? if so that's a good sign.

there are spacers of different thicknesses, on the top and bottom of the knuckle, that center the knuckle on the ball, and set the torque for how tightly it's wedged on the ball.. did you duplicate the spacer configurations when you put it back together?
