Connection on rear axle??

Just to the left of the pumpkin on the rear axle there is the little connection with a boot and goes up to some little box on the passenger side that has more lines coming out of it. What is that thing for? This isn't a pic of my rig, but I noticed it when I was crawling around under there yesterday.

That would be your LSPV. Load Sensing Proportioning Valve.

Thanks guys! I guess my 89 xtra cab had one, but I don't remember seeing it on my 93 4runner.
