cold start injector time switch issues

Ok, since the post on the LSPV didn't generate a lot of interest I'll try again.
85 22RE cranks and funs fine, cold or hot. The problem is when you raise the throttle above 2000 rpm it starts to cut out, run rough, etc. Fuel pressure is fine, injectors are firing, spark is good. One thing I found that will eliminate the cutting out is to remove the plug off of the cold start injector time switch. It runs perfect then with the exception of a slightly faster idle. Pulling the plug on the CSI does not change the cutting out, only by removing the plug from the time switch. It cranks good cold with the plug removed. Oh yeah, it pretty much just started doing all at once.

I have checked the switch and have replaced it with a known good one along with the CSI. Everything checks out ok that I have read about or have seen to check. There is a lot of info on the CSI and the problems encountered with them but nothing really like what I am seeing with this one.

Hopefully someone will have an idea as to what I need to check or how to approach this further. Thanks for all the help in the threads and posts.

Dunno what to tell you, changing the switch fixes most issues. If it's not terribly cold in the winter where you live (doesn't go below freezing) your truck won't use the CSI anyway.

On the 22RE's, the injector is connected somehow to the idle up diaphram. Not sure how it is on older engines but that's probably why your idle goes up.

1. Pull codes, even if your check engine light is not on. See if there is anything stored showing up.

2. Check your Air Flow Meter with a multimeter for the correct resistances. Somewhere there is a disconnect between the fuel and the air mixture not being correct.

3. Then check for vacuum leaks or air entering after the AFM.

4. Report back.

First of all thank you for the replies and suggestions.
Ok, checked the following using the FSM as a guide. AFM, cold start injector, CSI timer, throttle position sensor, all checked good. I do have known good replacements for all of these also.

Trouble codes:
with the CSI timer switch hooked up: 7.
with the CSI timer switch unhooked: 7 & 11.
I did clear the trouble codes in between these two tests.

I have replaced the throttle position sensor with a new unit and adjusted per the FSM. I also checked for vacuum and air leaks and tightened all lines and hoses.

I'm beginning to wonder if I have a wiring harness problem? I have borrowed a known good computer from a friends truck which made no difference. He has the same truck (with the exception it is not a 1 ton) and has been good enough to let me borrow/compare parts with his.

Thanks,
Crtzlow
