Click click won't start
NEWBIE
Sorry folks if this problem has been posted already but it is driving (or not as the case may be) NUTS!! I have an '84 SR5 22R. Nothing fancy, just a truck to get me around the mini-ranch for light chores. Anyway it all of a sudden won't turn over. The inside electrics work when the key is on but when I go to start it's just one click, release the key and try again, just one click and so on. The battery has checked out fine twice. Autolite 525 cca's. Now go easy on me 'cause I'm mechanically challenged. Don't get me wrong...I love this truck and it's been great up until now. Just FRUSTRATING

Try jumping it first..
then try hitting the starter with something and see if it starts..
if not read on here, the issue may be the contacts

Or your battery connectors at the posts may have worked loose or become corroded. Try moving them and checking for tightness, or just put a wrench on them and tighten them up good and tight. Cleaning them with a wire brush can help, too, if it's corrosion.

Sounds like your starter is bad. Take off the plate on the back with 3 screws, there will be some copper connections, they are probably just dirty clean them with a wire brush and see how that does. 99% of the time it will fix your starter
