IT LIVES!!!! Just 2 issues with the new engine
I finally got everything put back together on my new engine and got to fire it up today. No leaks, it is timed and it idles great. I haven't taken it out yet but it sounds good. There are just 2 issues:
Issue 1) No heat. I have the heater running full blast and the hoses going into the firewall are hot but hot air is not blowing out. The thermostat is open and the temp gauge registers half so not sure what is going on
Issue 2) vacuum leak. I know where the leak is...apparently I am missing a hose but all hoses are accounted for so I am not sure which one I am missing. Check out my pic that shows where the leak is coming from.
Anyways....a big thanks to everyone and this board for helping out. I am also glad LCE replaced those defective parts. Hopefully that is all behind me now. I am dang close to getting this thing running again

Is there a vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator? On my '85, a nipple on that tri-port runs directly to the fpr (originally had a vsv, but I deleted it). If your fpr is being supplied with vacuum from elsewhere, just cap off that nipple it isn't needed. Silicone caps last a lot longer than rubber ones.
Was the heat working before? Could be the heater core or blower.

I fixed both issues and took the 4runner for a spin today. It drove well....no issues. It feels great to have it running again and it has quite a bit of power it seems. Thanks again everyone for their help.

Glad to hear you got it all worked out. I felt the same way about the decent power a fresh 22re can make. You get used to disparaging comments such as "gutless pig" or "can't get out of it's own way", but I think these trucks were plenty powerful for their purposes when they were new.

And man Jared, that 4runner looks great. Paint is shiny, and I love an ARB on a 1st Gen 4runner. Actually, most 4runners I have seen that color, seem like the paint really held up well for some reason.
