Looking at my clutch pedal today I noticed there is nothing in between the clutch pedal arm and the pin connecting the arm to the master cylinder. It's just metal on metal. Shouldn't there be some kind of plastic or soft metal bushing here? I can't find anything in my shop manuals, nothing for sale on rockauto, nothing that fits right at my local hardware store. Might just drop the $12 or whatever for the universal ones at NAPA.
As far as I recall, and it's late and raining, so I'm going to go look, that's the way it's supposed to be. The pin just goes through the pedal. No bushings, or anything. Having said all that, I could well be wrong. I usually am...
BTW: It looks like the seal in the MC is shot, leaking onto the pin that pushes in and out. My 87 pickup has that problem. It leaves a dribble down the place you rest your left foot when not pushing the clutch pedal. I make it a point to be sure my foot goes there, even between gears, so I don't accidentally prress the pedal and slip the clutch. Just the way I was taught when learning in my father's 57 Chevy stepside. I trashed the clutch anyway, but I got a little squirrley at times. What 16 year old doesn't?

It's a bit of a mystery. No mention of a bushing in my shop manual or muir's manual. Nothing on a lot of parts sites. I did however come across this diagram on japan-parts.eu that shows a bushing there with part no. 31453B. I might order one and just see if it fits. Unlubricated metal on metal just seems so.... wrong. Also I wonder what the hole in the pin is for. Seems like another hitch pin and a washer might keep the arm more centered. Or maybe it's for a hitch pin to keep a bushing in place.. Mysterious.
I was thinking I could get away with leaving the MC as-is for now since the leak is slow and it's working ok (except for a squeak if the clevis isn't in the right place which is what got me peering back there in the first place). If it were an around town truck I probably wouldn't worry about it yet but I'm taking it out into the desert this spring so it could be nice to get that squared away.
Stumbled across this photo, looks like the hole is for the hitch pin and the chucked part of the pin holds the spring. Now I'm wondering where the hell my spring is..
I don't have that spring either. I'm going to replace that pin, I think it's pn 4714834010 because when I push the clutch pedal in and out that pin is binding and making creaking noises. I'm going to find that bushing too, mine might be gone. Probably is.
ETA the part number for that bushing is
90386-08002

There is a plastic bushing that goes in the hole. On mine, the hole was wallowed out pretty bad, I just welded it up and redrilled it to the correct size, so the bushing would fit tight. There are also bushings in the pedal pivots, I think they all should be still available from Toyota.
