My friend just parted out an 86 runner and I told him I want all the AC stuff for my old 85 carbed truck (now my Nephews truck). I've searched here and other sites before and I think the hassle is the wiring harness connectors for the EFI system are slightly different than the carbed one. Has anyone else done a similar swap and can you give some insight of what I'm going to need to do the swap?

 

It can be done, and everything from the 86 4Runner should bolt into your 85, you will need to drill out the holes in the fire wall for the lines to pass through, the only hard part it finding the right wiring harness for your 85 truck. if your good with wiring and can get a schematic of the a/c wiring then you could probably match the wiring and make it work.
