Ac comp replace Q's?

Hey guys I'm about to replace the compressor on my 84 with another compressor from an 84 in very good condition. My question is after I disconnect the compressor and all the freon leaks out. After I hook everything back up can i simply just change the oil and put in the retrofit conversion with the compressor? Or do I need a vaccum since it leaked out?

Yes, you'll need to obtain a vacuum in the system as this will remove nearly most of the moisture in the system. The small traces of moisture that is left will be handled by the receiver/dryer component.

Since you state regarding doing a conversion, I'll will state that releasing R-12 into the atmosphere is illegal. Your supposed to capture the refrigerant to be recycled.
