85 rear suspension beef up needed....?
Ok here are the pics. As you can see the rubber bumps disappeared this last season....? There is just under 5” of daylight now. I use this as a work truck and I tow a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer with it. I’ve tolerated the rear sag long enough.
I just did a search and found the ZUK mod however I’m not sure if that is the best option for towing and varying loads in my truck bed that frankly get heavy with grass clipping haul off....? I will be installing a 6’ wide x 6’ 8” long UTE bed on my truck in the next month or so.
My single axle trailer is loaded roughly in the 2,000 – 2,600 range. I was considering putting a Firestone Ride-Rite #2116 Airbag systems on it with onboard compressor and dual gauges in the cab. http://www.firestoneip.com/site-reso...ation/2116.pdf but I’m not sure at this point.....? With the amount of sag there is now I’m thinking the air bags will be doing ALL the work and NOT the current leaf springs. I want the truck to have a firm solid feel to it.
FWIW I also tow the same trailer with my stock 1991 2nd gen 4runner and I prefer the firmer feel with the 85 truck. Also considering Firestone Ride-Rite airbag system on 91 4runner....?
Any input much appreciated.
