85 4runner losing coolant

So I spent the last 2 hours searching for something other then head gasket but I keep going back to that. The motor is brand new never been fired. The down side is it sat for over 3 years (which is what the prev owner of the motor told me).

BTW this is a 1985 4runner 4x4 with a 22re and a 5 speed.

The issue I have is I am losing coolant. The truck would sputter at low rpm but once the hit about 4k rpm it would clear up. While performing a compression test (all cyl at 180-185) I noticed the number 3 cyl was misting coolant out of it. so I know its number 3 is the culprit but while reading i have heard horror stories of cracked heads.

I would like to get your input on this while i am waiting for my enginbuilder kit to come in.

The guy I bought the motor from was on another board and was very reputable. it had mild port work, crawler cam, and valve work. Does anyone have any other advice that i should do before pulling it all down again. The truck has gotten to operating temps 3-5 times never driven under load and the oil is clean and new. It maybe has an hour of run time.

Thanks guys
