85 4runner calipers or not? - help ID!

Hi,
Recently acquired my 85 4runner. PO said he changed the pads a couple of years ago but didn't know much about them when I asked. Anyways, I'm in the process of upgrading but wanted to see if the current calipers are 86+ v6 or just standard ones. Anyone know how to ID? Do I need to pull them out? Here are some pics.

Additional note. The truck is a 85 4runner 4 cylinder 22RE.

Hey man welcome!

You need to keep it in one thread. Only way to get help really.

You need to search first of stuff like this.

Seriously welcome but keep it in one thread. Add to your signature everything you know about your truck. Engine, trans, lift, tire size, gears, etc.

Seriously put us in front of you rig.

86+ 4 cylinder calipers aren't really an upgrade over your SFA calipers. They would allow use of vented rotors from an FJ60 but that's it. The upgrade comes with 88+ V6 calipers (V6's were introduced in 1988) used in conjunction with FJ60 rotors (vented but bolt on when used with any IFS calipers), the 1 inch bore master cylinder, and dual diaphragm booster.

Doesn't look like you have the V6 calipers. The V6 calipers have big fins or gussets to help with cooling or strength. They also have 4 equal size pistons.

where the rotor passes through the caliper, it would have enough clearance for a wider rotor (ifs rotor). that caliper does not seem to have the. which would make it a 79-85 caliper. and nothing to do with anything related too any v6 caliper.

@SENOR NOODLES and @arlindsay1992, thanks for the posts! Will try to hunt down some calipers then. Currently, the rear axle is disasslembled and waiting for parts for rear disc brake conversion. I'll start a thread with pics of the build process to keep it in one place. Appreciate your help!
