84 Toyota diesels?

I was on the EPA looking at fuel economy ratings and came across an 84 Toy 2.4l diesel. I had never heard of these are they super rare?

I don't think they were sold in USA but some in Canada. They stopped selling them here in 87 or so. Not super rare buy hard to get parts for.

They did sell them in the U.S. Just not very many. I believe '85 was the last year for Yota diesels in the U.S. There is an '85 4x4 diesel down the street from me. And I have seen another one cruising around from time to time. Aaaand I've seen at least 3 early '80s, late '70s 2wd diesels.

Occasionally, I'll run across one in a junkyard. From what I've heard, this particular 4 cyl diesel wasn't anything really great.

theres quite a few here in canada, especially now that guys are bringing the japanese trucks over. the 2.4 i've heard arent the best motors but the 2.8 or 3L as they're known are solid! especially if you can find a turbo 3L or put a turbo kit on it!
