i have a 1985 2.4l non turbo diesel 2wd and a 1985 22r 4x4. i am hoping to take the diesel engine and tranny along with cab onto gas 4x4 frame.
my question is will the diesel tranny bolt up to the gas transfer case???
do i have to get a 4x4 tranny or is there a kit i can get???
any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Its possible. It will be rather gutless. I was going to put a 2L-TE, or a 3L in a 90-95 4runner, but the economy took a dump, and I had to abandon my plans.

 

ya i thought the 2.4 might be gutless but i figured a diesel would be nicer for 4x4ing because of the torque at low rpms. i dunno it would be good on fuelfor shure. i've heard they get real good fuel mieleage
