22r carb
#1
My 1985 truck keeps flooding, have rebuilt carb and porblem is sparatic. sometimes it runes fine and others it runs very rich. I think maybe the carb is fine but maybe a sensor it telling it to dump fuel. I was wondering if replacing it with an ealier 1980 non elec might help but dont know if they swap. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Calvin

Ideas
Some ideas:
- can you see down the carb throat, look for leaks?
- fuel pressure? Don't know how it's been modded over the years. Mechanical fuel pump, not an always-on electric, right?
- there are $20-ish endoscopic web cams (tiny camera + LEDs on a cable), used with a laptop. Might be able to get one down the carb throat and see.
- if it's leaking, need to take it off anyway. Could rig fuel to it and see.
- is there a shutoff solenoid that's worn / stuck or getting power when it shouldn't?
- try another rebuild.
