20r/22r hybrid running issue

I just finished putting a 20r head on my 22r block and I'm having issues with it running. my question is that i know when you put the head on it messes with the cam timing but would it mess with it enough to keep it from running? it will start up but you have to keep flipping the throttle to keep it running and i have to advance the timing all the way to keep it at even that. i put the timing light on and when i tried to get the timing mark lined up it just stalled out.

An IC engine will run with fuel/fuel management, spark/timing and compression. Your problem sounds like timing, but I wouldn't rule out fuel management or timing related compression......I'd almost have to be in on the build to know what to suspect.....

I know, I'm not that helpful

after pluging a vacume leak on the intake mani it will run now but it misses like crazy still. It will stall if i give it gass and let it drop to fast but i think its because i dont have the vacume line hooked up to the dash pot dampener correctly. Tried pulling plugs one at a time but it didnt sound any diffrent. After plugging the vacume leak i can now get the timing mark on the marker even though its on the far corner. Im at a loss of what it could be. i just cant bring myself to beleive the timing chain is on wrong. i lost count of how many times i checked to make sure those marks where on right.
