No stickers for me. I'm gonna paint the old skool look on the sides only. Tricky part will be the fade.

Actually, I wasn't being sarcastic about a camo panda paint job. I had to go back and take a second look before even seeing the pandas. They are difficult to make out, which is what you want for camo. You just may be on to something...

Not to say that the paint you ended up with isn't great.

For the OP: I just used some POV 15 hardnose to coat the lower section of my 85 runner that I use as a DD. It was getting rusted along the bottom two or three inches. I spent a full day taping it off and putting on three coats, and it came out looking good (sorry, no pics). If you wanted a two toned job that will protect against rust and is UV resistant, then definitely look into it.

If you want to spray the lowers with a 2 tone that is rust proof, spray it real thick with rattlecan boxliner, once it dries, scuff it and paint over top with the colour you want. It will still rust out under the liner but it won't come through so no-one will be the wiser!

this is what I did.

Rustoleum quart thinned with mineral spirits, then just taped off and rattle canned easy graphics similar to original runner graphics. Email me for pictures... irongrenader@yahoo.com

any ideas for accents or graphics?
Digging up a thread from the dead! How has this held up over the years @low-n-slo? I'm planning on painting my 83 that I've been fixing up with rustoleum sand.

PLASTI-DIP. Whole job cost less than $100 and has been on for 16mos. problem free. Also put herculiner in the interior with waterproof speeakers, stero, and waterproof seat covers.
