1985 driveshaft question
hey guys, i have a 1985 ext cab pickup and my carrier bearing went causing some vibrations, cant seem to find one in my area. I was thinking of getting rid of the bearing and just going with a one piece drive shaft can I use any drive shaft with the same diameter as mine to get one made ? anyone know any non Toyota drive shafts that would be able to work ? any info would be appreciated thanks !

Where do you live that an auto parts store can't have one in a day or so? That's going to be your cheapest option. There seems to be some folks that luck out and find an equal length driveshaft in some vehicles that weren't equipped with a carrier bearing. I haven't been able to find out exactly what year or model that is. A tape measure is what's needed to hit trucks in the yards to find a match. To get one made, if your yokes are ok, driveshaft shop can just remove your top(t-case) yoke and differential end yoke, and possibly put some new tube between them.
If you have an x-cab without a massive lift, you can prob get away with not having to get a DC joint for the t-case end.
