1984 Toyota 4runner manual? Oil capacity?

First off, I can not find a manual for an 84 toyota 4runner or pickup. I have looked everywhere and even in the thread that says manual for 'most' years.

I would use the 85, but I know the 85 engine is different than the 84.

I can live w/o one for the time being if anyone knows how many quarts of oil to put into one w/a new oil filter install on an oil change, also the weight. I bought 10W-40.

If anyone has one please let me know how I can get it or pm me, something!! lol...

I can check my manual for you tomorrow. I don't know off hand but I think I usually put about 4.5 quarts in, start it up for a minute or so, shut it off and check the dipstick. Then add a little as needed. And I always change the oil filter every oil change. I use 5w30 and but I'm sure 10w is okay too. I thought 5w30 was recommended but I can check that too. As you probably know they sometimes list different weights depending on the temps your in. My wife's Tahoe and my Tacoma both use 5w30 so it's easy to just by it in bulk for all 3.

Thank you very much for checking the manual? Do you have an electronic copy? Or do you know where I could pick one up, paper or electronic?

Autozone.com says to use .... Weight = 15W-40, 20W-40, 20W-50

Engine Oil Capacity :: 4 Quarts

I use castrol gtx 20w -50

The best part of the chart is the first line, where it says with 15w or 20w oils you're good till well below freezing point

So 10w40 is going to be fine.

However, I suggest you get a genuine Toyota oil filter. The v8 4Runner and old Tundra filter is a perfect fit.

Cheers!

it took more than 4 quarts that is for sure. It took a full gallon (4 quarts) and about .7 of another quart or so. so about 4.7. Right about what wabbit said the first time. It sat all night and had a chance to settle and it looks good on the dip stick. I did run it for a few seconds last night to fill the oil filter.

I'm confused, some are saying 4 quarts and wabbit initially stated 4.6. Is it maybe 4 w/o oil filter change and 4.6 w/oil filter change? Mine took about 4.7-4.6 quarts.
