The woes of wiring.....

Anybody have the patience for wiring? Im running into a few snags with my latest project. Wiring harness is good, just having a few setbacks. Pulled close to 100ft of wire that some jerk put in wrong/not needed. Now that all the fire hazzard is out of the way, im having a few problems getting things like the blower motor to work again. Diagrams in chiltons and haynes aren't very helpful. Any advice? **all the wire i pulled was NOT factory, it was supplying power to the 4 horns and whatever else was on the truck when i got it.

My wiring isn't quite that bad off, I got lights and gauges, tail lights and all that, but its about damn cold in the north ga mountains so i gotta have heat. Here's the kicker, it worked last week after i pulled out all that crap wiring, and it didn't today. Fuse was good and all that, so i think im in for a ton of fun.

I guess im one of a few who loves wiring. I'm OCD about it tho, I like it to be in a nice tight spot and not just laying anywhere it will fit. What I would do is get a test light or multimeter, find the wiring into the heater and chase it out of the heater, I usually use a multimeter and put it on the sound setting that makes a sound when they contacts touch. Start chasing and following a single wire at a time. It will take some time but it's the best way that I have found. Make sure to look for cut or bare wire spots, and double check all your grounds.

I had to fix the wiring in my 80 4x4 truck when I got it a few weeks ago. Didnt have power to anything in the cab. Just a process of elimination really to trace the problems out. It wasnt bad to me though, I love wireing and have several years experience with it in vehicles. Hope you figure out the problems you are having. Good luck with it.

it is nice to run into 25 years of other people's versions of how to fix stuff. everything on my '81 works but I don't know why some of the wiring is pretty well fubared.
here is a link to the wiring diagram from my '81 FSM..they are just pics but it might help you out: Link to Wiring Diagram
