Windshiel Trim Removal

Anyone ever successfully removed their chrome trim from the windshield and put it back on? I have a new windshield gasket to put on. As fas as tools what do I need too remove it? Also my chrome trim is peeling so I may not even put it back on. Does it have to be put back on to seal anything up?

I took it off years ago and used a small screwdriver with a rag to pry it out. I sanded it and painted it flat black. It looks great even after about 6-7 yrs.

I knew I had these somewhere.... They are for a 90 to 95 model, but hopefully it's of some help.

I actually just pulled the trim off. Thanks for the pictures though. My gasket is such bad shape the trim popped right out with a fixed blade knife. Came off in a left section and right section. It had two "clips", one on the top and one on the bottom that covered up where the two pieces of trim meet. There is some kind of coating that is peeling off the trim. It all dirty looking and once you pull it off there is shiny, clean trim under it.

Do you want to keep the chrome trim? If not, you can get a windshield gasket that doesn't use it. From what I understand, the chrome trim is a rust maker.

I thought about that after I ordered the gasket. I'm just gonna stick with it.
