Whats going on with this bed?

I'm just about to pull the trigger on this purchase but I just noticed the bed is not lining up. What's going on here? 2WD bed on a 4x4? Wrong year? Can someone help me out?

Interesting...

Interesting......

Someone fitted 1979-1983 fender flares to a 1984-1988 2 Wheel Drive bed.

So you have the wrong bed for your year....

Completely up to you. Assuming they did a good job on the install, that's a completely cosmetic thing. These are old trucks...a lot has been done. Really just depends on what you're looking for. There's nothing wrong with it unless you don't like it. Personally, what I see is that whoever did it cared enough to match the color and transfer the fender flares, which means it wasn't a hack-job. Doesn't mean you need to like it, but at least they did a good job.

Functionally, that bed is just fine, it just doesn't look right.

Also, it looks like they stuffed tail lights off of another make of truck, those tail lights are not factory for either that replaccement bed or the original bed. Chevy maybe? Hard to tell from that angle.

If neither of those bother you, that is fine.

Depends on the price. All the sheet metal on these old trucks are gonna go some day. I see beds for sale around here but other parts of the country are slim pickings due to rust.

Personally, these trucks shine because of the durable drive train. If it runs well and the frame is good, you got yourself a good truck.
the off year bed would make me take a closer look at everything else though. What else did they swap without telling you?...
