What Would You Pay?

For a 1979 Short Box frame in awesome shape? I've found one in really awesome shape, as in not a speck of rust. I know they are rare and in demand to some extent and finding a mostly rust free specimen is next to impossible but the junkyard dude wants like 500 bucks for it. Too much? Is he out to lunch or am I too cheap? And by frame I mean FRAME only, no axles or any running gear. If I want the running gear that's attatched I can have the whole thing for 1000 bucks including a cab. The only things left to do after I hand this guy his grand would be drop my motor in and get fenders, doors and a hood.... what ya's think?

where is the frame located? if its in the NE like where I am (new hampshire) its worth every penny, but if its in the southwest texas and west of texes where theres no rust or very minimal I think thats a little too high. If you do give in to the $1000.00 mark I would insist on getting every lille part you can, you also didnt mention if the bed came with it or not. Just my outlook on the situation though make your own desicion, its your cash man!

Well, I'm in the Pacific Northwest I guess, basically the Okanagan/Kootenays area of British Columbia. Most of the Toyotas at that age have been munched up by rust somewhere. There aren't many rust free ones around at all. I am originally from Southern Quebec and just like you in New Hampshire, the Import trucks there suffer the same fate as here (BC). There is a bed on it, but it was smacked in from a crash, too bad because this truck seems to have avoided most rust. I've only found one spot on the whole truck and that is a small 1" hole in the driver's side rocker panel!! The big problem with my area that I've found is that ANY vehicle that is 4x4 is just CRAZY expensive, especially Toyotas. You can't find even a rusted out POS for under $2000!
