ive got a 82 pick up with a stock 22r. after shifting when i release the clutch, a strong vibration occurs as the clutch grabs. this only happens in first second and sometimes third gears. this also occurs when i downshift into these gears. i know my clutch needs to be replaced but i want to know if a new clutch will also fix this vibration problem. thanks for the advice

 

Do a search here and on Google for "clutch chatter" and post back if that seems to describe your symptoms.

 

You've got some hot spots on the flywheel. A new clutch and
surface flywheel will fix it. Make sure you break in a new clutch properly
or you will be in the same boat.

 

I had this happen to me on my '91 upon engaging 1st and sometimes 2nd...replace u-joint (was really bad) on front of driveshaft and problem solved...might not be your prob. but just thought I'd share it as an option you may want to check.
