very bad tire wear
Ok I bought a set of tires last October well I'm here to tell you I need new ones already with less than 20000 miles on them. Before I got these that are on now I rebuilt the axles completely. Now the old tires were wore on the outside bad that's why I rebuilt it, well the same thing is still going on both tires are wore completely out on the outsides. The toe in is within a 8th inch and the axle is not bent from what I can tell. I do not abuse this truck it mite see the mud once a year. Anyway I really don't know what eles to do, I will say this my leaf springs are flat as a board up front and I have a complete set of old man emu ready to go on, maybe that's why it's wearing like that but I don't know. When I rebuilt the knuckles I reused the old shims and put back in the same order but I'm not sure what was done before I got it, I wouldn't think that's the issue. I've searched my but off with everyone saying the toe is off or bent axle. If I can just get some kind of help to lead me in the right way that will be a start, and I know I'm in the right place with the knowledge on this forum. Ohh and every shop I call around town will not help me they all say it's to old or some other excuse not that I want to bring to a shop anyway but hell I just don't know what eles to do

sounds like there is too much toe-in, causing excessive wear on the outside of the tire. usually a bent axle ends up making tires look like / \ and you wear out the inside edge, pretty hard to bend the axle the opposite direction. worn out leafs shouldn't have any affect.

I'm gonna play with it also and on another nite my steering wheel us turned about a quarter turn off center when the wheel is straight, so someone must have done something before me and didn't put the steering wheel back on right, I know I'm fed up with messing with this and I can't keep buying tires

Are you sure your alignment is correct? The only way I could see a tire wear on the outside is too much toe in or positive camber. Even a bent frame or axle would show on the alignment, and a lose wheel or king pin bearing would wear the tire on the inside. If you jack up the front end and grab the tire top and bottom to wiggle it is everything tight or do you feel a slop?

No its all tite I rebuilt the whole axle, yeah the truck tracks straight but the steering wheel is off center, now I've never removed or installed a steering wheel so I'm thinking they didn't out it back on straight. And by looking at the truck the axle does not look bent expecially the way it's wearing and the truck has never been wrecked so the frame isn't bent, I really don't know where eles to go from here

Maybe go to a an alignment shop and get it checked. It is the simplest thing to align, any shop can do it, and you can be sure the wheel is put on straight then, and that it is not off center because of the direction.

One of the first things I do when I get a vehicle is get an alignment. I have never got one that didn't need an alignment. Really sounds like you need one. also get it checked when ever I get new tires, rims, or any suspension pieces in the vehicle.
