Tranny help !! :(
Hey all. New to yotatech but not new to yotas lol. I have a question on my tranny. I am wondering if i have a clutch problem or if its my syncros in the trans. I own a 1981 l/b pick up 4x4 34" swampers 4in spring lift. 4spd manual trans 3.93 gears welded rear. Hit a good mud hole recently and was grabing gear pretty good with no issues but now i cant find any gears. I can start the truck in gear with out it lurching but wont go into any gears. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

- Have you checked your clutch fluid level?
- Ruptured Slave Cylinder Line near Slave Cylinder?
- Fractured steel line to Slave Cylinder?
- Acute seal failure in Slave Cylinder?
- Reservoir cap fell off & bouncing sloshed out your fluid? Or cap fell off, water splashed into reservoir & contaminated your fluid?
- Ball-end broken off the end of the shift lever?
- Broken shift fork inside trans? (Mega-owie!!!)
Just what I can think of....

You can start the truck in gear and have it move, what happens if you start it in neutral or another gear?
I'm betting something with the clutch system. Have a buddy watch underneath while you work the clutch inside the truck and make sure the clutch fork is moving. If not, you know where your problem lies. If it is moving, we can move on down the line

How deep were you submerged in water?
Does your truck have the clutch safety cancel button to the left of the steering column? If so, with truck off, shift into first, foot off clutch, turn key and try to start. What happens?
If nothing, you can likely rule out hydraulic failure. If you hydraulics took a dump the springs of the clutch would cause it to clamp and be stuck in gear. It could be a total friction plate failure, internal trans failure, t-case or differential.
If it moves, I would say hydraulic failure.
