Toyota Truck 79-83 Color and Spec Chart

Here is the chart of color for the US-Spec Toyota Truck from 1979-1983. If you see an error please post it here and I will correct the page and graphic ASAP. You can upload a photo of your car by clicking on the graphic, then clicking on the appropriate camera icon next to your color.

If you need me to update the chart please post your model year (or production date), color code and a description or photo of your car. Without the DATE of the vehicle I can't update anything. If you can get your hands on a brochure for any year that would also be very helpful! For now this is for US-Spec cars only, I will add other countries in the future.

Just found a list of color applications for the 1982 Toyotas, so the chart has been updated with what SHOULD be all 1982 colors.

Hey guys, does anyone have any brochures from 79-83 that we could use to verify this information? Also, I would love to get a scanned copy of the brochure to include with this topic.

great link if you click on the white part it takes you to a page that has a colour chart/year thingy for all Toyota models. The truck listings appear to be mostly complete.

Thanks, you are looking at several years of my life invested into that page. Well, five minutes here, five minutes there...

But now I want to have all the brochures available, so start digging through your files! I'm sure that there are plenty of brochures floating around out there!

I am only adding information about vehicles that were built by Toyota USA as special or limited editions. SET, the dealer network down in the South, liked to create all sorts of special editions in their import facility... but the reality is that these vehicles were just normal from the factory and the facility would apply some graphics and bolt-on some options and pronounce them special editions.

I'm not saying that your truck is not special, just that I have to focus my energy on a task that seems reasonable to complete someday. If I start adding SET special editions I would have to add a whole new page to the site that might end up bigger than the original page!

I just got a message that the 79 truck and 83 truck both had white 033 paint codes. I updated the chart... but someone else already confirmed an 038 for white in 1983, so possibly they switched mid-year?

You have the brown metallic with the beige metallic. The darker color should be the brown metallic code 4b4.

Yeah, I'm a little suspicious of that. The Mojave Edition paint code is 4A6, which corresponds to the name "Beige Metallic", but that name probably won't be found in any brochures since it was exclusive to the special edition. The photos that are attached to that code are of the Mojave, so it seems that is correct... but if you look through the photos it seems that there are two different colors in there.

I don't have a photo of the Brown Metallic truck, so I don't have anything to compare against right now. If we can find a photo of a 4B4 truck then I could compare that to the Mojave photos.

OK, I was able to confirm that there were two different colors on the Toyota Mojave. 4A6 was only on the US-spec 2WD Mojave, and another darker brown was on the Canada 4WD version. I removed the images of the brown 4WD from 4A6 and left only the American version.

Thanks! I updated the chart to show 030 for 1979. Now, if we can find someone with a 1980 and 1981, 1982 and 1983 in White to check their paint codes... then we can nail down precisely which year the code changed to 033. For now I will leave the chart showing 033 starting in 1980.
