Stuck carb insulator
I'm trying to do a full tear down and rebuild on my carb from my 82 4x4, however the insulator plate is stuck fast to the bottom of the carb. Of course this means I can't get to the screws to remove the throttle plate. I can't run the parts thru my ultrasonic cleaner without separating them. So far a google search hasn't turned up any info on what I can use to separate the insulator (chemical or otherwise) without damaging it. I've tried lightly tapping with a hammer and gentle prying, but no luck. I hate to get too forceful, as I imagine that insulator plate is pretty much unobtanium. Any ideas?

I've never seen one get stuck before. Perhaps a PO used some kind of adhesive or sealant on it. I imagine you're right about finding a replacement. I'd probably keep doing what you're doing, tapping sideways and gently prying. Hopefully it will come free for ya. Good luck

Just one more thought- may try applying some heat (not with an open flame, obviously). A heat gun would be ideal. Don't want to get it too hot but may help release any sealant that was used.
