Spindle on 81

Hey Guys,

I am in the process of rebuilding my knuckles and I have a question. I have been using the write up from here as a guide which has been a big help but he says to install the spindle with the notch facing up. The diagram and book show it facing down. Which one is right?

Thanks!!

Bolt pattern wouldn't allow it to go upside down. The notch goes down.

In the knuckle rebuild sticky, it shows the notch facing up. I'm pretty sure that is what the op is asking?

Depends if he's asking about the notch on the base where the bolt pattern is, or the notch on the end that is threaded. One goes up, one goes down hehe, it is impossible to put them on upside down, so just line up all the bolts. Only 4 will match if its upside down.

I just barely took apart my knuckles this weekend - the notch ON THE THREADED END of the spindle goes up. But I'm still pretty sure it is impossible to mount them up side down.
