Is it the power steering pump or a leak?
I've noticed a noise whenever I start my truck up that sort of goes "WHHERR
WHHERR WHHERR" . It sits during the winter and has many leaks anyway..IE frontmain, axles, assorted others. I start and drive it occasionally and the wherring seems to go away. Is it time to replace the pump or check the plumbing to it, if so, is this a system you have to bleed? Thanks, Brett

Sounds like a loose fan belt, or power streaing belt. Pop the hood and wiggle the belts. As a rule a belt should not travel more than 1 inch up and down.
The fact it stops as the belt and pullys warm up is what points me to that. A pump or bearing would continue to talk.
The sound only last 2 to 5 minutes?

Have you checked the fluid level? Is it low?
Whiring is usually pump/fliud related, while belts screech, especially at full lock. But the fact that it goes away is kinda strange.
As for bleeding, just turning the whell lock to lock several times usually works the air out (engine running of course).
