options for fitting newer transmission

Have a newer (longer) transmission that I want to put in my 1980 shortbed. I see budbuilt makes a cross-member but with that I'll need to use two u bolts according to the directions on the website.
So what are my options for crossmembers that will fit this newer model transmission?

On the same note are there any driveshafts that happen to meet the dimensions needed for the longer trans in a first gen swap?

If the trans is longer the drive shaft has to be cut the same amount.

Why; did you blow the original trans?

Yeah the trans in the truck is tired, missing first gear. I know I'll have to have driveshafts made (second question). That's where I'm hoping that some other production vehicle would have the correct length shafts.

There are no production vehicles that will have shafts for you. You can go to Marlin Crawler or some other maker to get them done, but escape is impossible.

I would do something different; an SBC or 4.3 swap with a 200r4 into and AA adapter plate to an RF1A xfer case. Much simpler than trying to make a sandwich with mystery ingredients.
