Been running 20w-50 in it, yeah I know thats stupid! It doesn't leak anything right now, Oil pressure is good, Doesn't burn or consume a drop. Im going to change it soon, going with a Napa Gold filter and Castrol 15w-40.. before I do that what is everyone else running in their R-Series motors? Im not going to switch to synthetic though, its too pricey, the oil gets dirty way too fast in this thing(Weber with the carb top filter).

Also going to change the T-case and Tranny fluid, what do you guys reccomend wt wise and brand wise? I dont need anything like Redline or Royal purple in this thing, both are smooth and quiet and shift great, no point in synthetics there either.

 

I just use 10w 40 and GL-4 (tranny & t-case) GL-5 gear boxes. Not sure the exact weight, though.

 

i run 10w 30 in the motor and 80 90 gear oil in my trans and ATF in my transfercase

 

I run regular old 10w30 and synthetic 75w90 in the trans and rear. Synthetic makes for alot eisier shifting in colder temps(below 30 degrees). 20w50 would be too high a viscosity for under 50 degrees but just fine for hot summer days. Napa gold filters are pretty good for the money.

 

I ran walmart cheapy 20w-50 in my 20R, never a problem, never smoked...changed it to 10-40 and it smoked like a sob.

I'm running Castrol GTX High mileage 10w-30 in my 87 22RE now, great oil, now if it wouldn't leak out every couple months I'd be set

 

I run 5 Quarts of Napa High Milage Oil, I buy it by the crate cause its cheaper, also Napa brand oil is actually bottled and produced by Ashland Corporation, the same company that does Valvoline, and Valvoline is good , Its seriously the same stuff, look on the containers some time.. Anyways I run that and then I used a Motorcraft Oil Filter for a 302 Ford (V8 5.0 Liter), same filter works on my Tacoma, The '86, and when I had my van it fit the 240 I6 in that, I run Napa oil in everything I own.. Has always worked fine, and my engine is CLEAN.

 

Castrol 10w-30 dino juice in the motor; Redline MTL in the trans, Redline 75w-90 in the cases, and Shockproof 75w-90 in the diffs.
