New to the Yota world/ slow 81 build
I picked up my 81 Yota about a month ago and just now got around to posting on here but here it goes. The truck is bobbed, on 33 in Swampers, Bilstein 5150s all around, and V6 brakes.. The motor is a cammed 22r, its got some kind of trick head and valves and a Webber carb. It has 4.10s with a locker in the rear. I actually met the guy that originally built the truck while driving it home the day I bought it... But enough about the truck, lets show some pics:

The day I brought her home

It was kind of warm so the doors came off for a day

After a night of wheeling I realized my backup light sucked, so I found a headlight or fog light and mounted it in the place of my old light... After two new bulbs this thing is awesome.

And after a couple poser pics in the only decent hole on this trail I decided to take her home and give a nice bath...

Probably the easiest carwash I have ever done.
Then stuff started to break...

This should not have happened and Idk why it broke, but when I fixed it I used grade 8 hardware with lock nuts and washers... And replaced all of my shock mounting hardware.
And then my drivers side wheel bearing and hub went, so I got these:

Up next is a clutch from Marlin Crawler, whenever it comes in the mail. And with that will come a rear main seal.
Then I need some rear leafs because mine are pretty saggy.
Now I am starting to regret buying a built truck, but for the money I couldn't pass it up.
I also couldn't pass this up:

But thanks for reading, I'm sorry for the cell phone pics but I am workin with what I got for now. I will probably have a lot more rolling in soon.

cool truck, I am partial to 81's
the Warn hubs don't have a great reputation for reliabilty.
What part of Montana are you in? My wife has family up in the Helena area, that truck looks vaguely familar...I get up there once or twice a year..

Im actually in NC outside of Charlotte. I got the hubs for a steal. Im getting some chevy 63s this weekend and have to figure out how to mount them with the shortened frame. Maybe some sort of cantilever shackle. Im sure its nothing I can't overcome

So I finally took some pics of the bed... This weekend didn't quite turn out the way I thought it would so the passengers side knuckle has yet to be rebuilt. But I did get some stickers cut from a friend and also my clutch finally came in.
I will need to rebuild my carb some time soon and give her a little tune up, a keep getting complaints from co-workers about my truck smelling like raw fuel while driving. I guess that will come this weekend with the clutch install, the knuckle rebuild, and my rear main seal. But knock on wood the truck has been pretty good to me for being driven 25 miles each way to work and then running errands when I get home.
Hopefully in the near future a hi-lift jack, some logging chain, and a new head unit will be on the truck.

Honestly I will probably just soak it in carb cleaner and see if it helps, if it doesn't I will probably just rebuild it and give it a good cleaning. Having a couple days off for Christmas will help me get a lot done with it, if life doesn't get too much in the way.

Well I finally got some time to work on the ol rig this weekend. It started out as me doing a timing chain, guides, gaskets, and tensioner. Then moved to me saying, Ive got it this far apart why not a headgasket, which soon led to these pistons look like fidos butt, how about a rebuild. So the parts ordering begins and the motor will be pulled this week, pics to come.

hey if you havnt figured any thing out with the gas smell, I pulled my weber off to find a poorly home made gasket that had a half inch hole in it. just thinkin we might have the same problem but i pulled it soaked it and put a new gasket in there and sont smell a hint of gas so that might be worth checking out. Good luck with all the work man, sounds like a head ache to me. ha
