New to me '81

I recently picked up this rig as my new trail rig. This will be a slow rebuild. It has a 4.3l Chevy V6, th350 trans and a Toyota case, stock gears.

The plan right now is to lower it, wider ifs rear axle, put my winch on from the 4runner, hi steer, fix he front bumper and bad exo.

It already need new springs, the rears are bent. Both front and rear are really stiff. My ifs 4runner flexes way better.

I'm told the springs are Skyjacker 6" springs. I'm thinking maybe some all pro or TG springs with less lift. It only has 36's on it. Thoughts any one?

Here are a few pics of the rig and springs.

Yeah, I think about all it did was keep brush and tree limbs off the truck. I think for now I will just cut it off.

Tube work can be redone. Does it run well? If so, I say cool truck. Replace a couple parts and it should be pretty fun.

Runs great, fired right up after sitting for a few months. I aired up the tires and drove it about 80 miles on the highway doing 60-70mph. It shakes like crazy at that speed but it was manageable.

I have a set of half doors for my 87 4Runner. Anyone know if they will bolt up and close? I haven't got around to trying yet.

My apologizes to bikerbob for putting this in your thread. But I have been trying to find the right place to click to start my own new thread for over an hour now and I cannot find where to do this. I am working on my own yota and have some questions for everyone here. Could someone please tell me how to start my own thread??? Thanks in advance. and btw I like the new rig looks like there is some good potential there.

Don't worry about posting in my thread. We all have to learn somehow. it's been a while since I was new here, but i think you have to have a min # of posts to start a new thread. I may be wrong though. Somewhere there are rules for posting. I will try to find them

ya I saw that you needed a min. of 15 posts in order to post to the classifieds... but I figured the classifieds were just the "4 sale" category

Maybe that's what I was thinking of. If you go to the main page for Pre 84 trucks, there should be a box on the left side just above the first post/ sticky that says "new thread". Its a light blue box. That same box should be in every category you can post in.
