Awesome pics, and truck.

When you said "no dents" in bed, is that a common thing with first gens?

My truck has 3 dents about as big as a mans open hand down the middle of the bed, wonder how that happened? can I pound um up from underneath ya think?

id imagine so, it doesnt really matter because a bed is ment to haul things. my bed wont be this straight after i get the truck running.

I know you are probably tight on cash like most of us here, but do yourself a favor and replace the springs and valves on that 20r head. Have it checked by a mechanic if you are not skilled in that area for cracks/etc. Don't bore the 22r more than 40 over, I don't even go more than 30 over myself. The head is your bread and butter on these engines. I just put the engnbuilder "crawler" cam in my 22/20 hybrid and you will love it. I promise. Get yourself the high rev/behive springs for that 20r head/cam combo. These hybrids just laugh at RPMs and keep dishing out torque.

What carb are you planning to run on there? You will have to do some work, but not much if you are going to use the 22r elec choke carb. The 20r one was originally water choked.

It looks great, very nice work so far. That shattered piston skirt was beautiful. I love to see things like that, that means I get to build something bigger and better than previously.

Keep us posted with pics, looks like a great start you got going there.

im getting the head worked on right now, im hella tight on cash but i had alot of things laying around to do this build so it will be fairly cheap. the head is getting the intake bored out bigger valves and yes better springs. as far as the carbs im going to run dual mikunis, crawler cam and i am going to buy some kind of header. i totaled costs up so far and im right around 500 deep into the motor. not bad.

thanks for the compliment. i just used some engine block paint from napa. i think the reason it turned out so good is the prep work. i put a few hours prepping using red scotch brite acetone and a wire brush.

would getting the block bored result in a lil more power?...hp or torque?..im getting mine bored .040 over tomorrow (turning the crank tomorrow as well) and when everything is said and done..its going to have a engnbldr 268* cam in it..
i figured with the cam..the .040 over job...and the header i already have..so should be looking at some nice power gains

from what i understand is you get a little bit of power but less compression, this is where i got confused because compression amounts to power in the end. i dont know much on this subject, but going 40 over might not be a good choice. is there any way you could just go 20 over?

and as soon as i get another job..i can get my lift..and my tires..then i can get some gears!!!..and maybe an E-locker..who knows...hahaha

22/20r builds have awesome torque/power. Anyone that laughs at my 4banger 4x4 I just show them the video of me pulling out a 04 Jeep and a 05 F25 out of our local mud hole. The mud there gets about 4 feet deep and it's rutted to hell and back.
