Name that front end clunk...

I have a 81 4x4, I just installed my trail gear highsteer. Everything seems great except when I have it in 4-low and even a little bit in 4-high on the pavement, something from the front end clunks when I Make a slight turn. It does it a lot more in 4 low and is a lot more noticeable than 4 high. Now when I have 4wd engaged off road I don't notice this at all? Any ideas? Is it just because im on the pavement its doing this? I'm kind of thinking I didn't get the right pre load on my knuckles when I installed the steering arms...
** Oh and it doesn't make the clunk when im going straight**

I know that being on pavement will have something to do with that but i'm pretty sure there is more too it than that. 4hi should be totally fine on dry pavement unless you're turning into a parking spot, then you'll feel it. I probably just told you what you already knew, sorry i'm of no help.

Yeah, I know your not spose to have it in 4-low on pavement but I was coming off the trail across my property and slightly turned into my driveway and noticed it.

I don't know if this could be the case, but your birfields might be making that noise. Something to do with the gear oil getting into the that area, or lack of lube.

Yeah I think I'm just going to rebuild the whole front end... Badass TDI build you have going, I have a 2.0 TDI Golf.. I would love to swap a 1.9 into my yota some day.
