Mirror Swap
I'm trying to get rid of the enormous metal frame mirrors on my 80 pickup. Anyone running a more modern type of mirror that uses the same bolt pattern for the top holes? What makes/models will swap over?

My 1988 4Runner has some enormous metal frames, but my brother had a 1989 4Runner with a much smaller mirror which used only the top 2 holes, in fact his door did not have the lower hole like mine, as far as I know, the top 2 bolts are the same between most of the Toyota doors. Also there is a member on here livesoffroad who used FJ60 mirrors on his 84 Runner, and those mirrors also only used the top 2 holes and they matched up perfectly. So apparently Toyota was remarkably consistent in those upper mounting holes. I don't know for certain if your 80 pickup holes would line up with the later 4Runners, but I would guess they would. Why don't you measure the distance between the mounting holes and then ask someone with a newer truck or 4Runner to do the same.

1st Gen trucks have 3" from center to center on top holes. My 89 4runner has the camper style mirrors and the bolts are 2 3/4" apart. Not sure if the single small mirrors are different
