Manual Hub Problem

My manual hubs do not disengage when turned to the "FREE" position. The covers and dials were just redone and re-installed. The dials turn okay and the little metal balls and springs are installed. Any ideas what is wrong. Need help. Thank you.

either they are 180 degrees out...or your springs are not in the gear that engages the hub.

If they worked prior to redoing them then you reassembled them improperly.

My bet is the big spring is upside down or you put them back together in "lock" and not "free".

I don't know if it's true but I have heard that if you over pack it with way WAY to much grease it would cause engagement problems? I'll duck under a table now before someone blasts me and makes me look like an idiot haha.

Thank you guys for all of the help especially WASKILLY WABBIT. The hubs are fixed and everything works fine. The problem was the small tension spring inside the passinger side manual hub came off the engagement gear. It was never installed properly (the work was done by a Toyota Dealer-thats scary). I followed Waskilly Wabbit's instructions to the letter and fixed the hubs myself. Again, I want to thank everyone for the help and everybody should do business with Waskilly Wabbit he knows his stuff.
