I replaced the clutch in my '83 pickup last summer and, of course, didn't change the main seal. Within a few months it developed an oil leak that has gotten progressively worse but never enough that I've had to add oil. The oil seemed to come out of where I suspect the mail seal to leak. I started noticing drops of oil along my path into my parking garage and figured it was time to replace the seal. I replaced the seal today but the old seal really doesn't look bad. The old seal didn't look much different from the new one. I figured I'd see oil all over the flywheel and noticeable oil everywhere. We'll see if it leaks once I get it all back together but I'm wondering what else could leak that looks like the main seal. Valve cover gaskets maybe?

 

When I had oil leaks on my 4runner I replaced all the gaskets that I could easily get to and then I ran some auto-rx and that seemed to stop all my external leaks.

I'm still losing some oil but I think it's the engine burning it.
