how many of you people have actually used them ?? or are going by
"hear say" ???? or what pirate says .. sheesh !!!!


I ran them in my old rig for 12 years 36" swampers , ARB's and 5:29's .. drove the cr@p out of it .. with never a problem .. if done right , there fine .

I know a spring is absolutly the best option ..but in some cases , a block is required , If done correctly , they work !

But i have seen the destructive opposite.

 

i have a set of 2" blocks in the back of my FSJ right now, but i don't get spring wrap (at least not with the old motor and auto trans). i have a set of 2" rear springs i just have to pick up in gig harbor, washington that will eliminate the blocks because i figure with the fuel injected chevy motor in front of a manual trans i dropped in....it will deliver just a bit more power and may wrap the springs.

the reason i'm so against them on a toyota is because the axle wrap is so bad even without blocks, those blocks are going to make it sooo much worse. i can't even get a one-wheel-peel because the wrap is so bad on stock springs in the toyota. a block would probably damage the springs. only way i'll run a block is if axle wrap is 100% gone (AAL or bam bar) and never more than a 2" block for saftey.

so in this case .. what happens when you add a "chev" spring swap ??? 63's ??

seems to me the spring would "wrap" even more !!

Blocks are dangerous and damaging.

 

my post is from personal experience... i have them and i hate them. TONS of axle wrap, dangerous and dumb..... BUT they were a quick fix and they've work since. (knock on wood)

 

Wow, I can't believe you posted this here. But the premise is correct anyways. If you can afford a big expensive diesel truck, why skimp on the suspension?

 

bought my 85 in PA with 3" blocks in the rear and stock springs. One panic stop on the interstate on the drive home is all the personal experience I needed to know they had to go before I'd drive it again. Especially with the the suspension being older and 'broken in' the last thing you need is to add leverage to the bad forces acting on those worn springs.

Why not just do a body lift?
