L52 Transmission fill plug location

I am trying to top off the fluid level in my manual transmission but cannot find the location of the Fill plug in the factory service manual. Would greatly appreciate a picture or link to a thread if this has already been covered. Thanks in advance.

On the side, about 1/2 way from the bottom to the top, passenger side. Almost directly above the drain plug. Maybe a little bit forward of it. Large bolt, similar to the drain plug. Usually has a raised lip of metal around it.
Sorry I don't have a picture, but I hope that all might help a little...

The above info is spot on. It is on the driver side. If you still have trouble finding it I can take a picture for you.

That said, it can be a pain to fill the trans from that location. I usually pull the plug out, put a pan underneath, and then remove the shifter and pour the gear oil in the top. Once it fills up to the proper level, the excess oil will drain out the fill plug hole and into the pan. Since the proper oil level is supposed to be right at the bottom of the fill plug hole, I let the excess oil drain out til it stops and then replace the plug. I just find it easier and more convenient that way.

Hope that helps.

wait a few hours to check it so the exhaust cools if you are still running a stock engine. If you have a 2RZ or 3RZ and the exhaust in on the right side, you won't get burned.

best way to fill it is to pull the fill plug, pull the rubber boot from your shift left and fill from the top, checking every now and than until you see fluid dripping down the side of the trans, put paper towels down to collect the extra fluid. Laying under the truck squeezing a bottle is a pain
