L50 Help.

Went to put gear oil in the transmission in my jeep. It's an L50 from an 81' 4wd.

Since i couldnt find a recommended amount, i figured the "go off the fill plug" way, would work.
I was wrong, i don't know if what i pulled was the fill plug, but no oil drizzled out.

I'm stuck, wheres the fill plug on the side? I know whatever i had, i took off with a 17MM wrench. And it was on the drivers side.

I also need to know where the fill plug is for the xfer case.

Thanks, guys.

Very odd, very odd indeed. It should be on the drivers' side half way up the transmission housing. Post pics?

As for the t-case, the fill plug is on the back of the case opposite the front driveline output flange.

Ill get pics tomorrow. Maybe there's some crud in it? When I pulled the drain plug, there looked to be some chunks of RTV or something in it.

Photos? I would think that if you took out a bolt, and you could stick your finger in the housing (as opposed to your finger just going in a bolt hole), you got the right plug. Could you feel around, up down and sideways and tell that you were in the housing? Should be easy. If there was crud, you'd see it. The housing isn't very thick. You can easily get your finger into it. So what happened? You filled it till it came out the shifter hole? Did you pay attention to how much you put in?

Fill plug for the transfer case is on the back of the case. A manual goes a long way on this stuff.

Got it, yeah turns out i was pulling the wrong plug.
The thing i was pulling had a small spring behind it.

Yeah, i thought it was empty, because when i pulled the xfer case output flange a few years back, it drained out. I figured the two parts used the same amount of oil, so i figured it had all drained out.

Evidently i was wrong, and poured basically a gallon into the tranny, and it overfilled out the shifter lol. I drained it down to the right level today, same with the transfer case.

Trying to bench bleed the master cylinder now. It doesnt wanna bleed at all.

The slave started bleeding after 60 cycles, and rust colored brake fluid bled out.. I cycled it until it was clear, with the new fluid.
